Faustino Gran Relais & Châteaux

Faustino Gran was born in 2014 when creative director Laurent Morel-Ruymen discovered Can Faustino, the historic residence of the Olives family, in a state of abandonment. After a careful restoration, the building was transformed into an indoor Eden that preserves the central courtyard and the original architectural volume. The 16th-century palace that houses Can Faustino is full of details that reveal its history: photographs by Nicolas Gerin of the Sant Joan festivities and coats of arms carved in marés stone. Its success led to an expansion with other houses in the old town: Cal Bisbe, with its courtyard and pool facing the Cathedral; Can Sebastià, a 19th-century manor house with a hammam and library; Can Llorenç; and Can Morel, from the 15th century. Today Faustino Gran brings together five historic houses in the center of Ciutadella and the Casa de Pau estate.

The restoration of Faustino Gran combines sophisticated simplicity with a welcoming freshness in which art and nature set the pace. The spaces let nature permeate the interiors through open-air staircases, courtyards and integrated gardens. Can Faustino preserves the original elements of the 16th-century palace: marés walls (Menorca's typical limestone), wooden-beamed ceilings and whitewashed courtyards. Cal Bisbe and Can Llorenç, located next to the Cathedral, offer views of the episcopal square. Can Sebastià stands out for its monumental staircase and private library. The spa occupies ancient caves carved into the rock, creating a unique underground sanctuary. The garden of Can Faustino is filled with native Mediterranean flora.

Faustino Gran is located in the historic center of Ciutadella, Menorca's capital until 1722. The Cal Bisbe and Can Llorenç palaces look directly onto the 14th-century Cathedral of Santa María. Ciutadella's old town preserves its stately elegance with 18th-century palaces, cobbled streets and the iconic natural harbor sheltered from the Tramontana wind. The unspoiled coves of Menorca's north and south coasts are just a few minutes away.
