The Spanish Tuscany
Torre del Marqués has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. Originally built as a watchtower, this historic gem has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving into a boutique luxury hotel while preserving its unique architectural charm. Notable milestones in its evolution include the renovation of the 18th-century tower into a boutique hotel in 2000, its incorporation into Small Luxury Hotels of the World in 2010, and obtaining sustainability certification for ecological practices in 2020. The farmhouse rehabilitation was carried out by local artisans using natural materials from the surroundings, ancient construction techniques and UNESCO-cataloged dry stone walls.
The rooms represent a perfect marriage between aged stone walls and contemporary interior design, with high-end amenities including ultramodern bathrooms. The style is somewhat minimalist, in a warm neutral palette with taupes and grays, soft textiles and light woods. Construction used materials and artisans from an 80 km radius, incorporating handmade ceramic tiles and UNESCO-cataloged dry stone walls. Architectural sustainability is reflected in solar panels, biomass boilers fed with pine from the estate, and water from natural springs.
