Historic“Indians and dinosaurs on the Asturian coast”
Palacio de Luces is an 18th century Indian mansion on the eastern coast of Asturias, between virgin beaches and the Jurassic Museum. The Indian architecture -made its fortune in America- blends with the Asturian greenery and dinosaur footprints in the nearby cliffs.

The Palacio de Luces was founded in 1580 by Juan Victorero 'El Viejo', a Spanish nobleman who made his fortune in the Americas and returned to his native Asturias bringing with him architectural, cultural and gastronomic influences from the New World. The palace belonged to the Victorero family for generations, an aristocratic lineage that had fought in the Reconquest. With the discovery of America, the family began trade with the Indies, part of it traveling to Mexico in search of fortune. The entailed estate was maintained from 1580 until the law of exvinculation of 1841. In 1920, the last owner of the family, José Victorero Vázquez de Prada, nicknamed 'el Señoritín', abandoned the palace. After a complete restoration led by CoolRooms Hotels with the studio Proyecto Singular, the palace reopened in June 2021 as a boutique hotel, the only Relais & Châteaux in Asturias.

An indiano mansion from the 16th century that exemplifies the architecture of Asturian manor houses, when stately residences replaced medieval towers. The facade clearly shows three stages of expansion of the building, with revealing symbols such as the coat of arms of the Victorero family, the Maltese Cross and stonework with Franciscan motifs. The ancient walls, stately staircases, restored stone arches and original frescoes combine with modern extensions that include an indoor heated pool and luxury spa. Surrounded by 13,000 m² of gardens with forests of beech, yew, cherry, pine and holly trees, the complex offers spectacular views of the Sierra del Sueve, the Picos de Europa and the Cantabrian Sea.
Asturias
Nestled between the sea and the mountains in Luces, parish of Lastres in Colunga, the palace is located in a privileged environment of the eastern coast of Asturias. Just 2 kilometers from the charming fishing village of Lastres, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and close to the Jurassic Museum of Asturias (MUJA). The area is known as the Dinosaur Coast because of the fossil footprints in the nearby cliffs. The environment combines unspoiled beaches of the Costa Verde, hiking trails through the Sierra del Sueve and landscapes of native Asturian forests. The palace is surrounded by a wooded area with beech, yew, cherry, pine and holly trees, creating a unique microclimate between the mountains and the Cantabrian Sea.
