“The artists' retreat in the Serra de Tramuntana”
La Residencia is much more than a hotel: it is a cultural institution in the heart of Deià. For decades it has welcomed artists, musicians and writers attracted by the light and landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana. Its terraces among olive and orange trees offer views that have inspired generations.

Artists' village
World Heritage Site
La Residencia opened its doors in 1984, when the local Sheridan family, art collectors, donated local pieces to decorate the rooms, a collaboration that continues to this day. The hotel occupies two 17th-century (originally 16th-century according to some sources) Mallorcan manor houses that seamlessly integrate into their rural surroundings. Robert Graves, one of Deià's most famous residents, settled in the village in 1929 and remained until his death in 1985, describing Deià with the words "Here reigns perfect tranquility." He was the first of a long succession of artists, writers and poets who found inspiration in this magnificent setting. The hotel's Villa Robert Graves pays tribute to his legacy and was renovated in 2025 by acclaimed design studio Studio Ashby.

At the heart of the hotel are two 17th-century stone manor houses that blend effortlessly with their rural location, above the village of Deià. An intricate labyrinth of stone paths and steps extends across 35 acres of lush gardens. The 69 rooms are distributed in four different buildings: Son Canals and Son Moragues facing the main garden, Son Fony with pool views, and the Tramuntana building at the top of the hill, offering complete privacy and spectacular mountain views. All rooms and suites are exquisitely decorated with Mallorcan antiques and local artworks.
