Hotel URSO

The building was constructed in 1915 by architect José María Mendoza Ussía as the headquarters of the former Papelera Española, the only paper producing company in Spain at the time. The mansion was the corporate headquarters of this important company for decades, maintaining a library where crucial documents were kept. In recent years, the building was transformed into a five-star boutique hotel, inaugurating URSO Hotel & Spa as the first luxury boutique hotel of its kind in Madrid. The conversion respected the original neoclassical architecture while incorporating contemporary and sophisticated design, making it a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The building maintains the neoclassical aesthetics of Madrid's bourgeois architecture of the early 20th century, with towers, corner chamfers and classic bay windows supporting noble balconies. The façade preserves original elements such as a spectacular historic elevator, the central marble staircase, and restored stained glass windows. The interior spaces combine the building's history with contemporary design: the original central courtyard, decorative tiles, marble floors and wooden walls coexist with handcrafted furnishings and elegant décor. The original library was completely preserved as a tribute to the building's history. The rooms feature high ceilings, soundproofing, LCD satellite TV and pieces of Roman, Egyptian and Indian art.

Hotel URSO is located in the stately Salesas neighborhood, at the crossroads of the Chamberí, Tribunal and Chueca neighborhoods, one of the most vibrant and elegant areas of Madrid. The hotel is surrounded by embassy buildings, independent boutiques, tapas bars and restaurants. It is just a ten-minute walk from Madrid's golden triangle of art (Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza) and very close to the Gran Via. The location offers privileged access to Madrid's culture, gastronomy and nightlife, in a quiet but central area.
