Cantabrian haute cuisine in Madrid
On the site where Rosewood Villa Magna now stands, the Palacio de Anglada was built in 1870, commissioned by Spanish businessman and politician Juan Anglada. That 19th-century mansion was for decades the center of Madrid's social and cultural life. In 1972, the original Villa Magna hotel opened its doors, becoming a benchmark for luxury on the Paseo de la Castellana. After closing in March 2020, a team of internationally prestigious professionals worked on a complete renovation that achieved a delicate balance between the iconic 1972 Villa Magna and a contemporary transformation under the Rosewood brand. The hotel reopened in October 2021 as Spain's first Rosewood.

Four internationally recognized design studios collaborated on the hotel's reimagination. Spanish architect Ramón de Arana led the facade and entrance renovation, adding a spectacular staircase and reflecting pools that direct attention to the centuries-old cedars and carob trees. The interiors were renovated by Australian studio BAR Studio, paying homage to the buildings that preceded the hotel while infusing a contemporary character. The Amós restaurant was designed by Spanish architect Alejandra Pombo. Landscape designer Gregorio Marañón transformed the gardens to maximize green spaces and incorporate original species from the former Palacio de Anglada.
