Hotel Granados 83 is part of the Derby Hotels Collection, a hotel group founded by Jordi Clos, a renowned Egyptologist, collector and art patron who presides over the Clos Archaeological Foundation and the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona, the largest private collection of Egyptian art open to the public in Europe. The hotel occupies a classic mid-19th century building in the Eixample district, Barcelona's Eixample district designed by Ildefons Cerdà. The restoration transformed the historic building into a boutique design hotel that pays homage to Catalonia's industrial textile heritage, integrating rusted iron structure and exposed brick walls that evoke the old Catalan textile mills of the time.

The hotel is housed in a restored 19th century building with Egyptian stone and red marble facade, original marble columns and an impressive glass and stone facade with neoclassical details. The interior design combines industrial architecture with natural components: rusted iron structure, exposed brick walls, African Zebrano wood floors, white Thassos marble, Italian leather and Greek glass. A central courtyard with spectacular skylight connects the bright and elegant spaces with minimalist zen influence. The design deliberately evokes a SoHo New York loft feel, with rusted iron moldings contrasting with the elegance of the fine materials. Twenties-style signage and glass arches add a distinctive Art Deco touch.
