El gran hotel de Madrid, reinventado para el siglo XXI
Historic
“Twelve centuries of history in every room”
Hotel Caro is an architectural palimpsest: a 19th-century palace revealing remains of the 12th-century Arab wall, medieval Gothic arches and Renaissance vaults. Each room is different, adapted to the archaeological remains it houses, with contemporary design that showcases them.

All different
The hotel occupies a 14th-century Gothic palace that served as the private mansion of the Marquis of Caro in Valencia's old town. The building is listed as a 20th-century protected building by Valencia City Council. When a descendant of the Marquis made plans to convert the deteriorated building into a hotel, they did not expect to unearth an astonishing wealth of archaeological remains: 1st-century BC mosaics, column bases from the city's Roman Circus, 18th-century tiles and Gothic arches. The building is a mix of different eras, combining 2nd-century BC Roman mosaics, the 12th-century Arab wall and Gothic arches with a 19th-century facade.

The hotel features 26 rooms, all unique in themselves, representing a singular integration of contemporary interior design, characterized by clean geometric lines designed by Francesc Rifé, with the building's original historic architectural elements. The modern minimalist design, with monochromatic decoration and sophisticated lighting, evokes the scenic atmosphere of a contemporary art gallery, all to let the building's historic elements shine. Interior designer Francesc Rifé has kept the design sober and minimalist, with muted colors, minimal decoration and elegant furniture.
Hotel Caro is located in the heart of Valencia's old town, just steps from the Cathedral, the Silk Exchange (World Heritage Site) and the Central Market. The Carmen neighborhood and its medieval streets surround the hotel, offering total immersion in historic Valencia. The City of Arts and Sciences, Calatrava's futuristic contrast, is just minutes away by taxi.
