Almanac Barcelona opened its doors in 2017-2018 in the prestigious Eixample district, at the intersection of the historic Passeig de Gràcia and the grand avenue Gran Via. The two corner buildings that house the Almanac Hotel used to contain apartments and offices. One of the biggest challenges in deconstructing the old buildings was how to integrate them seamlessly into one. The building is described as an elegant 19th century building (plus a 20th century addition). The prestigious architectural firm OAB (Office of Architecture in Barcelona) and its founder Carlos Ferrater conceived the architectural remodeling of two buildings from different eras into one seamless property. The hotel was awarded the Prix Versailles 2018 and was named among Wallpaper's Best Urban Hotels 2018. With 61 rooms and 30 suites, all richly appointed with modern amenities to create a residential feel of understated refinement, the hotel has quickly established itself as one of Barcelona's most prestigious luxury destinations.

Jaime Beriestain Studio, an award-winning interior architecture and landscape architecture firm, created a design of understated refinement using a wealth of textures and different materials. Gray, beige and gold tones were chosen throughout the hotel, while oak and walnut accents have a subtle patina to evoke warmth. Antique mirrors complement the extensive use of Ibiza marble. The interiors evoke several beloved eras of design history, from Art Deco to mid-century modernism and the present day. The grand lobby was created by award-winning designer Jaime Beriestain, where Catalan light filters through large windows. Rooms average 34 square meters, while suites range from 45 to 125 square meters. Cube rooms are equipped with an arched window that maximizes skyline views with a built-in sofa nook. All rooms feature high-tech amenities and marble-clad bathrooms. The rooftop on the 8th floor houses both a beautiful swimming pool and a stylish cocktail bar and restaurant called Azimuth Rooftop Bar, with panoramic views over Barcelona.

Almanac Barcelona is located in the elegant Eixample district, specifically at the intersection of two of Barcelona's most emblematic avenues: Passeig de Gràcia and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. The Eixample, designed by Ildefons Cerdà in the 19th century, is famous for its grid urban plan with chamfered corners and its concentration of Catalan modernist architecture. Within walking distance of the hotel are Gaudí's masterpieces Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, as well as international luxury boutiques. The location is ideal for access to the historic center (Ciutat Vella), the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, and the seafront. The area is full of gourmet restaurants, cocktail bars, art galleries and designer stores. Gran Via connects directly to Plaça de Catalunya and the rest of the city, while Passeig de Gràcia is the epicenter of luxury shopping and modernist architecture.
