Description
Lorentz is wildest Papua. From tropical glaciers at 5,000 meters to coastal mangroves, it crosses all possible ecosystems in a 150 km gradient. Tree kangaroos, cassowaries and birds of paradise inhabit forests that have never seen humans. It's Southeast Asia's largest park and one of the planet's least explored.
Why It's a World Heritage Site
Lorentz is the only protected area in the world including ecosystems from tropical glaciers to mangroves. It contains Oceania's highest mountain (Puncak Jaya). Biodiversity includes Gondwanan species.
