Bwindi is a green cathedral of giant ferns and ancient vines. On its misty slopes lives half the world's mountain gorillas, families with deep eyes that watch you with almost human curiosity. Finding a family after hours climbing muddy trails is a life-changing encounter.

Bwindi harbors half the world's critically endangered mountain gorilla population. It's one of Africa's most biodiverse forests, with over 120 mammal species, 350 birds and 220 butterflies. Its antiquity makes it a refuge for relict species.
