Description

Ait-Ben-Haddou is a classic example of southern Moroccan ksar architecture — a collective fortified village of rammed-earth houses rising up a hillside above the Ounila river. It served trans-Saharan caravans for centuries and now stars in Gladiator, Game of Thrones and many other films. A handful of families still live inside the old walls.

Why It's a World Heritage Site
